Day 1 report: Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne scored an unbeaten hundred to offer the house staff a powerful begin in Sunday’s opening Check towards the West Indies.

The house staff gained the toss and opted to bat first as Karunaratne and Pathum Nissanka put up a 139-run stand for the primary wicket.
After losign three fast wickets, Karunaratne made 97 runs along with Dhananjaya de Silva for the fourth wicket to stabilise the innings.
Karunaratne completed the day on 132 not out which is his thirteenth Check century.
Younger West Indies debutant Jeremy Solozano was stretched off the sector after being hit on his helmet whereas fielding at brief leg. The West Indies staff administration posted on social media a short while after that the participant was not feeling effectively and needed to be transferred to a hospital in Colombo for scans and additional therapy.
Solozano underwent scans at a hospital, and was saved in a single day for commentary.
